Sister Elizabeth Drew, S.H.C.J.

Sister Elizabeth Drew, S.H.C.J., a former teacher in Manhattan, died April 14 in San Diego, Calif. She was 75.

She taught in Manhattan at Our Lady of Lourdes School, 1974-1979 and 1966-1973, and at St. Elizabeth’s, 1973-1974.

She also worked with the poor in Tijuana, Mexico, and served the Latino community and was a pastoral assistant in the Los Angeles area. For the past 11 years she did paralegal work in San Diego and volunteered in a domestic violence program.

Born in Waukegan, Ill., she entered the Society of the Holy Child Jesus in 1953 and professed final vows in 1961. She held a bachelor’s degree in history from Mundelein College and a master’s in education from Cardinal Stritch College.

Surviving are three sisters, Marianne Jula, Donna Incaudo and Katie Spong.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Anastasia’s Church in Waukegan. Burial will be at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, Ill.
