Sister Eulalia Villarino, R.S.H.M.

Sister Eulalia Villarino, R.S.H.M., who ministered at Transfiguration parish in Tarrytown for 25 years, died June 5 at Marymount Convent, Tarrytown. She was 77.

Sister Eulalia, formerly known as Sister Ste. Croix, began her association with Transfiguration after moving to Marymount Convent in 1984. She was involved in many forms of pastoral ministry, including sacramental preparation and religious education.

Before that, she served nearly 30 years in prison ministry in Colombia, where she also taught at Marymount School in Bogotá. She ministered at seamen’s institutes in Ecuador and in Newark, N.J., before going to Tarrytown. From 1955 to 1957 she taught at Marymount School in Rome.

Born in Barcelona, Spain, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in France in 1953 and professed final vows in Bogota in 1960.

A Funeral Mass was offered June 8 at Marymount Convent, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
