Sister Frances Clare O'Reilly, O.P., who was a contemplative nun for 57 years, died Sept. 1 at St. Patrick's Home in the Bronx. She was 87. She served at Corpus Christi Monastery in the Bronx, where she was known for her writing. She wrote many of the sisters' newsletters, and was a major contributor to the Metropolitan Association for Contemplative Communities, both through her writings and by her participation in its events. She is the author of a book of mystical poems, ÔÔEl Shaddai.ÕÕ Earlier, she was editor of the magazine Integrity which was highly praised by Dorothy Day. Born in Rochester, she entered the Dominican Nuns in 1948 and professed final vows in 1950. She was formerly known as Sister Mary Vincent. She was a graduate of Nazareth College in Rochester. Surviving is a sister, Joan Abbott. A Funeral Mass was offered at the monastery on Sept. 5, with burial in the sistersÕ crypt there.
