Sister Francis McLean, O.P.

Sister Francis McLean, O.P., who served for many years at St. Dominic’s Home in Blauvelt, died Nov. 4 in St. Martin de Porres Community at the motherhouse of the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt. She was 98.

At St. Dominic’s Home, she served as special services coordinator, 1974-2015; administrative assistant, 1972-1974; group living director, 1969-1972; and house parent, 1948-1954. She taught at St. Dominic’s School, Blauvelt, 1945-1948.

Sister Francis also taught in the Bronx at Holy Spirit School, 1969-1972, and St. Mary Star of the Sea, 1960-1962; and at Immaculate Conception, Amenia, where she also was principal, 1961-1968. She also taught in Providence, R.I.

Born in Scotland, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt in 1942 and professed final vows in 1947.

She is survived by a nephew and three nieces.

A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 8 at St. Dominic’s Convent in Blauvelt. Burial was at St. Dominic’s Cemetery.
