Sister Gerard Slavin, S.A., who ministered for many years in upstate New York, died May 8 in Hudson Valley Hospital, Cortlandt Manor. She was 94. In her 71 years as an Atonement Sister, she served in various ministries across the United States, many of them in the Diocese of Ogdensburg. She also served at Mother Lurana Home at Graymoor, Garrison. Born in Camderry, Manorhamilton, Ireland, she entered the Sisters of the Atonement in 1936 and professed final vows in 1943. A Funeral Mass was offered May 15 in the motherhouse chapel in Garrison, with burial in the Sisters' Cemetery at Graymoor.
