Sister Grace Anne Troisi, S.C., who was an adjunct professor at the College of Mount St. Vincent in the Bronx for 19 years, died June 17 at St. Patrick’s Home in the Bronx. She was 93.

Sister Grace was at Mount St. Vincent, 1994-2013, and served in the same role at Fordham University School of Social Work, the Bronx, 1991-1999, and City College Graduate Education Department, 1985-1999.

She taught in the archdiocese at St. Barnabas High School, the Bronx, 1960-1965; St. Peter’s High School, Staten Island, 1956-1960; and Our Lady of Angels, the Bronx, 1946-1951. She also taught in Queens.

Sister Grace was the founder and director of New Dimensions in Leadership Inc., the Bronx, 1981-2015. In 1991, she received the John V. Lindsay Prize for Race and Ethnic Relations for her 30 years of fostering racial understanding and interaction among inner-city youth. “The problems are absolutely solvable,” Sister Grace said then. “If people understood each other’s cultures, they would be able to work through their biases.”

Born in Mount Vernon, she was a graduate of St. Gabriel High School in New Rochelle. She entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1944 and professed final vows in 1949. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the College of Mount St. Vincent; a master’s in English from Fordham University; and a doctorate in education in community and school relations from Teachers College, Columbia University. She received New York State certification in administration and supervision.

A Memorial Mass and burial of cremains will take place at a later date at Mount St. Vincent.
