Sister Helen Parisi, P.B.V.M., who taught at several schools in the archdiocese, died Feb. 17. She was 83.

Sister Helen, who was formerly known as Sister Mary Dominic Joseph, taught in the Bronx at Holy Rosary, 1976-1980, and Our Lady of Solace, 1970-1976.

She also taught in Yonkers at St. Bartholomew’s, 1965-1968, in Manhattan at St. Jude’s, 1954-1963, in Goshen at St. John’s, 1953-1954 and 1969-1970, and in New Windsor at Mount St. Joseph Academy, 1952 and 1963-1965.

She also taught in Queens and in New Jersey.

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1950 and professed final vows in 1955. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Fordham University and a master’s in reading from the College of St. Rose.

She is survived by four sisters, Mary Seneck, Rose DeMartin, Theresa DiBari and Joan Parisi, and a brother, Robert.

A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 20 at Mount St. Joseph Chapel, with burial in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery.
