Sister Jane Finnerty, O.S.U., a native of Bronxville, has been elected and installed as provincial of the Ursuline Sisters of the Eastern Province.

Her three-year term began in May. She entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1973.

Also elected to the leadership team in February as councilors and installed at the Ursuline Provincialate in New Rochelle in May for three-year terms are: Sister Patricia Russell, O.S.U., a native of the Bronx, who entered the order in 1966; Sister Ann Peterson, O.S.U., of New Rochelle, who entered the Ursulines in 1957; Sister Maureen Welch, O.S.U., a native of Springfield, Mass., who entered the order in 1965; and Sister Brenda Buckley, O.S.U., of Taunton, Mass., who entered the congregation in 1976.

Together, they share administrative, pastoral and planning responsibilities to achieve the goals of the Eastern Province, building the society that St. Angela Merici envisioned upon founding the Ursuline Sisters in Brescia, Italy in 1535.
