Sister Jane Norton, S.B.S.

Sister Jane Norton, S.B.S., who served at St. Charles Borromeo in Harlem for 21 years, died June 28. She was 80.

Sister Jane was at St. Charles in parish ministry, 2006-2017 and 1995-1998; and she also served the parish school as principal, 1989-1995, and as a teacher, 1979-1980.

She also served as principal of St. Joseph of the Holy Family School, Harlem, 1980-1985.

She was director and administrator of the motherhouse of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, Bensalem, Pa., 2001-2006. She also served in Chicago, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Macon, Ga.

Born in West Newton, Mass., she entered the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in 1957 and professed final vows in 1965.

She received a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa.; and a master’s degree from Xavier University of Louisiana, New Orleans.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated July 8 in Our Lady of Calvary Church, Philadelphia. Burial was in the Motherhouse Cemetery, Bensalem, Pa.
