Sister Jean Thomas McHenry, O.P., who was principal for 23 years at St. Helena Commercial High School, the Bronx, died Feb. 14, in Siena Hall at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was 95.

Sister Jean Thomas was principal of St. Helena’s, 1973-1996, and taught there, 1957-1967. She also served at the following Bronx schools: her alma mater, Aquinas High School, where she was assistant librarian and computer coordinator, 1997-2012; Msgr. Scanlan High School, 1967-1973; and St. John Chrysostom School, 1952-1957;

She was earlier assigned to Cardinal McCloskey Home and School, White Plains, 1946-1952.

Born in Fall River, Mass, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1944 and professed final vows in 1951.

She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Fordham University, and a master’s in business education from the College of St. Rose, Albany.

Funeral arrangements were private. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
