Sister Jeanne Brennan, O.S.U., a teacher and guidance counselor in the archdiocese, died Jan. 21 at Andrus on Hudson in Hastings-on-Hudson. She was 95.

Sister Jeanne was a guidance counselor at the College of New Rochelle, 1971-1983, and the Ursuline School, New Rochelle, 1970-1977. She taught at the Academy of Mount St. Ursula, the Bronx, 1960-1961; Ursuline Academy, the Bronx, 1954-1959; and Blessed Sacrament, New Rochelle 1948-1954.

Sister Jeanne led “Focusing” spiritual retreats and workshops locally and internationally, 1992-2008. She also served as a trustee of the College of New Rochelle, 1996-2002; was superior of the communities of St. Teresa, 1987-1990, and North Avenue, 1967-1970; and novice mistress, 1961-1967.

Born in Stamford, Conn., she entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1945 and professed final vows in 1951.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the College of New Rochelle; a master’s in education from Fordham University and a master’s in pastoral counseling from Iona College.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 24 in the Province Center Chapel at the Ursuline Province Center, New Rochelle. Burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, New Rochelle.
