Sister Joann M. McHenry, F.S.P., who was registrar at Loyola School in Manhattan and taught at other schools in the archdiocese, died Jan. 6 at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry. She was 73. She was registrar at Loyola from 1984 to 1987, and after that taught in New Jersey for 12 years until retiring. She also was registrar at Ladycliff Academy, Mohegan Lake, 1972-1975, and a teacher there, 1970-1971. She also taught in the archdiocese at Holy Name of Mary School, Croton-on-Hudson, 1979-1983; The Assisium Business School, Manhattan, 1976-1978, 1971-1972 and 1959-1962; Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School, Manhattan, 1975-1976. Sister Joann also was an alcoholism counselor at Convent for Renewed Life in Middletown in 1979 and a team member there, 1983-1984. Born in Dobbs Ferry, she entered the Franciscan Sisters in Peekskill in 1952 and professed final vows in 1959. She held a bachelor's degree in economics from St. Rose's College, Albany, and a master's in business education from New York University. Surviving are two sisters, Lorraine McHenry and Dorothy Traber, and a brother, George. A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 10 at Marian Woods, Hartsdale, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Yonkers.
