Sister Joanne Regina Arcouet, O.P.

Sister Joanne Regina Arcouet, O.P., who taught at three schools in the archdiocese, died Aug. 23 in Siena Hall Infirmary in Sparkill. She was 78.

She taught at St. Catherine of Siena School in Manhattan, 1954-1956, and Aquinas High School, 1964-1965, and St. Helena’s High School, 1965-1966, both in the Bronx. She taught and was a guidance counselor and administrator at schools in Brooklyn and on Long Island.

Born in the Bronx, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1952 and made final vows in 1959. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Fordham University and a master’s in guidance from St. John’s University.

A Funeral Mass was offered Aug. 27 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. Burial followed there at St. Agnes Cemetery.
