Sister Julianne Warnshuis, M.M., who worked with handicapped children in Nicaragua, died Oct. 8. She was 66. With a master's degree in special education from California State University and after studies at Maryknoll School of Theology, she was assigned in 1975 to Masaya, Nicaragua, where she worked with multihandicapped children. She returned to Maryknoll in 1984 and did congregational service until 1992, when she worked with the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor in the Bronx helping to staff a nursery for physically challenged children. She later gave and spoke at workshops and retreats on spirituality. Born in Sioux Falls, S.D., she grew up in Long Beach, Calif., and entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1973. She professed final vows in 1984. A Funeral Mass was offered Oct. 12 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center with burial in the sisters' cemetery.
