Sister Julie Miller, M.M., a nursing home administrator for 14 years, died July 25 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 76.

She was the nursing home administrator for the Sparkill Dominican Sisters, 1987-1998, and administrator of Maryknoll Nursing Home, 1984-1987. She was associate congregational personnel director at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, 1998-2001, and assigned as center liturgist and was the director of music and liturgy from 2001 until her retirement in 2015. She also served in Japan, Nicaragua, Panama and El Salvador.

Born in Norfolk, Va., she entered the Maryknoll Sisters Novitiate in 1961 and professed her final vows in 1970.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in community service from Mary Rogers College, Ossining, and a master’s in educational psychology from the University of Georgia. She later attended the State University of New York and Long Island University, earned a certificate in gerontological counseling and became a licensed nursing home administrator.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 7 in the Chapel of the Annunciation, Maryknoll. Burial followed in Maryknoll Sisters Cemetery.
