Sister Kathleen O’Connell, O.S.U.

Sister Kathleen O’Connell, O.S.U., who served in the Ursuline Community of St. Teresa in New Rochelle, died Dec. 13 at Andrus on Hudson, Hastings-on-Hudson. She was 91.

Sister Kathleen served the St. Teresa’s community as an administrator for seven years ending in 2005. Before that, she was an administrative assistant at Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, Pelham; an assistant treasurer at the Ursuline Provincialate, New Rochelle; a teacher at St. Jerome’s School, the Bronx; and a teacher and later a guidance counselor at the Ursuline School, New Rochelle.  

She also served as a hospice worker, finance staffer and in other capacities in Great Falls, Mont., Bethesda, Md., Wilmington, Del., and Dedham, Mass. 

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1952 after finishing her studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She professed final vows in 1958. 

A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 18 at the Ursuline Province Center, New Rochelle. Burial was at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla.
