Sister Kathleen Theresa Sullivan, S.C., who served as archdiocesan district superintendent for the elementary school division on Staten Island for 10 years, died July 30 at Cabrini of Westchester in Dobbs Ferry. She was 83.

Sister Kathleen was district superintendent, 1980-1990. She was associate superintendent for professional recruitment in all elementary schools of the archdiocese, 1990-2001.

She was curriculum director at St. Mark the Evangelist School, Manhattan, 2002-2010. She served at St. Peter’s Elementary, Staten Island, as principal, 1970-1980, and teacher, 1965-1970, and taught at Epiphany, Manhattan, 1958-1961.

She also served in Brooklyn.

Born in the Bronx, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1955 and professed final vows in 1963.

She received a bachelor’s degree in history from the College of Mount St. Vincent, the Bronx, and a master’s in education from Fordham University, the Bronx.

Her brother, John Sullivan, and twin sister, Mary Ann Swords, survive her.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 5 at St. Margaret of Cortona, the Bronx. Burial was in Ascension Cemetery, Monsey.
