Sister Kathleen Tucker, O.P., a teacher at Our Lady of the Assumption School in the Bronx for seven years, died Sept. 12 in St. Martin De Porres Community at the motherhouse in Blauvelt. She was 93.

Sister Kathleen taught at Our Lady of the Assumption, 1959-1966, and was parish religious education coordinator of Our Lady of the Assumption parish, 1974-1976. She was principal and religious education coordinator at Our Savior School, the Bronx, 1971-1974; principal and teacher at St. Peter’s, Liberty, 1966-1968; and teacher at St. Dominic, Blauvelt, 1955-1959 and 1947-1948.

After receiving her LPN, she returned to the motherhouse to serve as pharmacy nurse, 1981-1997; infirmary administrator, 1979-1981; and LPN in the sisters’ infirmary, 1977-1979. She was formation director at St. Dominic Convent, Blauvelt, 1968-1971, and also served in Rhode Island.

Sister Kathleen served in Blauvelt as receptionist for the Siena Center medical office, 2000-2019; assisted in the development office, 1998-2009; and was financial officer for the Charisma Gift Shop, 1997-1998.

Born in the Bronx, she entered the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt in 1945 and professed final vows in 1949. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Catholic Teachers College, Providence, R.I.; a master’s in English from Fordham University, the Bronx; and an LPN from St. Joseph’s Hospital, Yonkers.

A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 16 in St. Dominic Convent, Blauvelt. Burial was in St. Dominic Convent Cemetery, Blauvelt.
