Sister Loretta Marie Lorenzo, O.S.F.

Sister Loretta Marie Lorenzo, O.S.F., a child care worker and administrator at Mount Loretto on Staten Island for 18 years, died Sept. 12 at the skilled-care unit of Wartburg in Mount Vernon. She was 88.

Sister Loretta served at Mount Loretto, 1966-1979, 1956-1959 and 1950-1952. She ministered in the Hope Soup Kitchen, New Rochelle, 1984-2011, and taught at St. Agnes Hospital children’s unit, White Plains, 1979-1980, and Nazareth Day Nursery, Manhattan, 1959-1966 and 1953-1956. She also served in Pennsylvania.

Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1948 and professed final vows in 1953.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Fordham University.

A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 20 at the Wartburg Chapel. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island.
