Sister Lucia Kenny, R.S.H.M.

Sister Lucia Kenny, R.S.H.M., who was a librarian at Ascension School in Manhattan for five years, died at Marymount Convent in Tarrytown. She was 89.

Sister Lucia was at Ascension School, 1995-2000. She served as archivist for the Eastern American Province of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, 2000-2014; and taught at St. Thomas Aquinas School, the Bronx, 1949-1954.

She also served in Queens and Virginia, and in France and Italy.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1949 and professed final vows in 1954. She received a bachelor’s degree from Marymount College, Tarrytown, and master’s degrees in library science and American literature from St. John’s University, Queens.
Her sister, Marie Kenny D’Arcy, survives her.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 24 in Marymount Convent. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, White Plains.
