Sister M. Francis Borgia O’Donnell, I.H.M.

Sister M. Francis Borgia O’Donnell, I.H.M., who taught at St. Ann School in Nyack in the 1960s, died Nov. 4 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 88.

She served at St. Ann’s, 1961-1965; St. Raymond School in East Rockaway, 1973-1977, and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Forest Hills, Queens, 1968-1969.

She also served in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina and Idaho, including as principal.

Born in Lock Haven, Pa., she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1949 and made final vows in 1955.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in music education and master’s degrees in secondary education, music education and religious education from Marywood College. A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 7 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton. Interment was at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.
