Sister M. Francis Gabriel Lenihan, I.H.M.

Sister M. Francis Gabriel Lenihan, I.H.M., who taught at two schools in the archdiocese, died on Oct. 26 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 105.

She taught at Holy Trinity School, Poughkeepsie, 1962-1964, and St. Alphonsus School, Manhattan, 1958-1962. She also taught at schools in Port Washington and Manhasset, both in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, as well as in Pennsylvania, Maryland and North Carolina.

Born in Scranton, she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1926 and made final vows in 1932. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Marywood College in Scranton.

She was preceded in death by five siblings, including Sister Honor Lenihan, I.H.M.

A Funeral Mass was offered on Nov. 3 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton. Burial was at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pa.
