Sister M. Genevieve Cashin, O.P.

Sister M. Genevieve Cashin, O.P., a principal and teacher in schools in the archdiocese, died Oct. 2 at Nyack Hospital. She was 92 and resided at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was principal at Thorpe Secretarial High School in Manhattan, 1964-1966; assistant principal, 1966-1967; and a teacher, 1952-1964. She also was assistant principal at Msgr. Scanlan High School in the Bronx, 1967-1970. She taught at Rosary Academy, 1970-1974, and St. Agnes Home, 1951-1952, both in Sparkill; St. Rose of Lima in Manhattan, 1945-1946; and in Queens. She was an office assistant at Dominican Convent, 1977-1981, and St. Agnes Home, 1942-1944. Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1940 and professed final vows in 1947. She held a bachelor's degree in education from Manhattan College. She was the sister of the late Father Joseph Cashin. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 5 at Dominican Convent, with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery in Sparkill.
