Sister M. Rose Cecilia Bozzo, F.M.S.C

Sister M. Rose Cecilia Bozzo, F.M.S.C, a teacher and principal at Immaculate Conception School in Irvington for 16 years, died on July 27 in the infirmary at Mount St. Francis in Peekskill. She was 74.

Sister Rose was principal at Immaculate Conception, 1976-1988, and was a teacher there, 1969-1971 and 1974-1976.

She was principal at Holy Rosary School, Port Chester, 1995-1997, and Franciscan High School, Mohegan Lake, 1988-1991, and taught at The Assisium Business School, Manhattan, 1963-1969.

She also was a teacher and principal at schools in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

She also served her religious community as provincial superior, 1997-2003; provincial council member, 2012-2016; planner and administrator at Villa Saint Francis, Peekskill, 2003-2016; and local superior and assistant provincial of the Franciscan Sisters, 1992-1995.

Born in New York City, she entered the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart in 1960 and professed final vows in 1967.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in school administration and supervision, both from Pace University.

She is survived by her sister, Rosalie Bozzo.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on July 30 at the Chapel of St. Margaret of Cortona in Peekskill.

Burial followed in the sisters’ cemetery.
