Sister Marian Bohen, O.S.U., who served in the education program at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining for 24 years, died Dec. 9 at Andrus on Hudson in Hastings-on-Hudson. She was 87.

Sister Marian served at Sing Sing, 1989-2013, as an associate professor and coordinator of the New York Theological Seminary’s certificate in ministry program, and later taught in the Rising Hope program that succeeded it. She taught at Maryknoll School of Theology, Maryknoll, 1989-1993, and Marist College, Poughkeepsie, 1988-1989.

She was an educator for 25 years in Indonesia, serving as a professor of theology, directing a catechetical institute and teaching Ursuline Sisters.

Born in Minneapolis, she entered the Ursuline Order in 1951 and professed final vows in 1956.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle; a master’s from Regina Mundi, Rome; and a doctorate in religious education from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.

Sister Marian donated her body to science. A Memorial Mass was offered Dec. 14 at the Ursuline Province Center, New Rochelle.
