Sister Marian Carolan, O.P.

Sister Marian Carolan, O.P., who taught on the elementary and high school levels in the archdiocese and in two other dioceses, died Oct. 31 in Siena Hall Infirmary at Dominican Convent in Sparkill. She was 71. She taught in the Bronx at Aquinas High School, 1993-1996 and 1979-1990; St. Brendan’s, 1971-1978; St. Ann’s, 1964-1967; and St. Theresa’s, 1956-1959. She also taught at St. Vito’s in Mamaroneck, 1978-1979 and 1967-1969; in Queens; and in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Missouri. Born in New York City, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1954 and professed final vows in 1961. She

held a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill. Following her retirement, she served the congregation at Dominican

Convent before moving to the infirmary. She is survived by a brother, Frank. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 5 at Dominican Convent, with burial in St.

Agnes Cemetery in Sparkill.
