Sister Marianne Travers, O.P.,

Sister Marianne Travers, O.P., who served at St. Catherine of Siena School in Manhattan for five years, died Nov. 24 in Siena Hall Infirmary at Dominican Convent, Sparkill. She was 101.

Sister Marianne was at St. Catherine of Siena, 1943-1948. She also ministered in Queens, Brooklyn, Fulton and St. Louis.

Born in St. Louis, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1938 and professed final vows in 1945.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Manhattan College, the Bronx, and master’s degrees in library science from Rosary College, St. Louis, and theology from St. Louis University.


Funeral arrangements were private. Burial was in St. Agnes Cemetery, Sparkle.
