Sister Marie Cafferty, C.N.D., who was a teacher and principal at St. Columba’s School in Manhattan, died Feb. 12 at Lourdes Health Care Center in Wilton, Conn. She was 94.
Sister Marie served at St. Columba as a teacher, 1945-1950, 1952-1957, and as principal, 1967-1972.
She also served in Connecticut, Illinois and Rhode Island.
Born in Providence, R.I., she entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1943 and professed final vows in 1949.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College and a master’s from Hunter College.
A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 16 at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton, Conn.
Burial followed at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, Conn.
