Sister Marietta Walsh, O.P.

Sister Marietta Walsh, O.P., a teacher and librarian in the archdiocese and in other dioceses, died Sept. 19 at Siena Hall Infirmary at Dominican Convent, Sparkill. She was 93. She served at St. Paul's School, Valley Cottage, 1984-1993; and in the Bronx at St. Helena High School, 1960-1969; Aquinas High School, 1958-1960 and 1940-1947, and St. Martin of Tours, 1955-1958. She also served at Corpus Christi Teachers College, Suva, the Fiji Islands; and in the dioceses of Brooklyn and Syracuse. She was secretary at Thorpe Village in Sparkill, 1982-1984. Born in Brooklyn, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill in 1937 and professed final vows in 1944. She held bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Manhattan College and a bachelor's in library science from St. John's University. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 24 at Dominican Convent in Sparkill, with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery there.
