Sister Marion Phillips, M.M.

Sister Marion Phillips, M.M., who served at Maryknoll in Ossining for 31 years as part of the congregation’s Contemplative Community, died Feb. 26 at Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 86.

Sister Marion was at Maryknoll, 2013-2021, 1992-2004, 1985-1990, 1969-1972 and 1956-1959. From 1985 to 1990, she was coordinator of the Contemplative Community, which focuses on prayerful support for those in active ministries and the needs of the world. 

Sister Marion also served in New Mexico, Japan and Thailand.

Born in Queens, she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1953 and professed final vows in 1962.

Her brother, Msgr. Michael Phillips, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, survives her.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 5 in Annunciation Chapel at the Maryknoll Sisters Center. Burial was in Maryknoll Sisters Cemetery.
