Sister Marjorie Stumpf, O.S.U., who served as a librarian at St. Philip Neri School in the Bronx for four years, died Jan. 22 at Andrus on Hudson in Hastings-on-Hudson. She was 89.

Sister Marjorie was at St. Philip Neri, 1998-2002. She taught English as a second language at the Ursuline Social Outreach Adult Learning Center, New Rochelle, 2003-2006; worked in the library at The Ursuline School, New Rochelle, 1989-1990; and taught at Our Lady of Mercy, the Bronx, 1958-1961.

She was a volunteer at the New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx, 1997-2010; and also served in Brooklyn, Malone and Ogdensburg, Delaware and Massachusetts, and Thailand.

Born in New York City, she entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1952, and professed final vows in 1958. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle, and master’s degrees from Providence College in Providence, R.I., and Queens College.

A Funeral Mass was offered Jan. 25 in Province Center Chapel, New Rochelle. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.
