Sister Mary Ann Junas, M.M.

Sister Mary Ann Junas, M.M., who served at Maryknoll overseas missions, died Feb. 12 in Maryknoll Sisters Residential Care in Ossining. She was 73. She served in Chile as a teacher and principal at Maryknoll schools, 1959-1975, and 1978-1981, and also served on the Maryknoll Sisters regional governing board in Chile. She served in Bangladesh, where she did natural family planning work in Dhaka and later in Khulna, and in Macau in the Maryknoll Sisters China Region, where she also taught natural family planning, 1989-2004. She was based at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining doing mission education and promotion in U.S. parishes and schools, 1975-1977, and worked in congregational health services, 1987-1988, and in congregational service, 2005-2006. Born in Baltimore, Md., she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1951 and professed final vows in 1960. She is survived by a brother, Thomas. A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 16 in the sistersÕ main chapel at Maryknoll, with burial in the sisters' cemetery.
