Sister Mary Beatrice Campbell, O.S.F.

Sister Mary Beatrice Campbell, O.S.F., who served as principal at St. Joseph’s School in New Rochelle, died May 17 at the Wartburg Adult Care Facility in Mount Vernon. She was 105.

She was principal of St. Joseph’s, New Rochelle, 1951-1957 and taught there, 1932-1937. She also taught at St. Catharine’s, Pelham, 1964-1983 and 1958-1960; St. Clare Academy, Hastings-on-Hudson, 1960-1964 and 1946-1951; St. Eugene’s, Yonkers, 1957-1958, and Mission of the Immaculate Virgin, Staten Island, 1937-1945. She was also a teacher in Queens, 1930-1932 and 1945-1946.

Sister Mary Beatrice provided tutoring and was in charge of medical insurance records at St. Francis Motherhouse, Hastings-on-Hudson, from 1983 until her retirement in 1990.

Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1928 and professed final vows in 1933. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education at Manhattan College.

A Funeral Mass was offered May 27 at St. Catharine’s Church, Pelham. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island.
