Sister Mary Carol Cannon, M.M., a Maryknoll missioner to Peru for 35 years, died Feb. 9 in the Maryknoll Sisters Residential Care unit in Ossining. She was 90. She began serving in Peru in 1958. She did catechetical work and pastoral education, and supervised a parish library. She did catechetical instruction in Hawaii, 1941-1958. Born in St. Paul, Minn., she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1938 and professed final vows in 1944. She was formerly known as Sister Maria Jose. She held a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Rogers College at Maryknoll and a master's degree in theology from Manhattan College in the Bronx. A Funeral Mass was offered Feb. 13 at the sisters' chapel at Maryknoll, with burial in the sisters' cemetery.
