Sister Mary Dennis McCarthy, M.M., who was a missionary in the United States and Africa, died Dec. 21 in the Maryknoll Sisters Residential Care in Maryknoll. She was 101. From 1974 to 1988, she did pastoral work with the Navajo in Tohatchi, N.M. Before that, she spent 13 years in Tanzania, Africa, where she did home visiting and worked in a clinic caring for premature infants. Earlier, she served in personnel administration at a hospital in Montana. She also worked in the kitchen at the Maryknoll Fathers' Minor Seminary in Pennsylvania. Born in Roxbury, Mass., she entered the Maryknoll Sisters in 1929 and professed final vows in 1935. A Funeral Mass was offered Dec. 28 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center with burial in the sisters' cemetery.
