Brother Fabian Mayor, F.M.S

Brother Fabian Mayor, F.M.S, a teacher at two schools in the archdiocese, died July 7 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 78.

Brother Mayor taught at the former Bishop Dubois High School, Manhattan, and Mount St. Michael Academy, the Bronx. He also taught at schools in Massachusetts, West Virginia, Oregon, Illinois and Florida. He also taught in Japan, China and the Philippines.

A native of Lawrence, Mass., he entered the Marist Brothers in 1957 and professed final vows in 1963. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Marist College in Poughkeepsie and a master’s in history from St. John’s University.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated July 15 in Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chapel at Marist College. Burial was at Marist Brothers Cemetery in Esopus.
