Sister Mary Henry, S.H.C.J.

Sister Mary Henry, S.H.C.J., who served at schools in Manhattan and Westchester, died Nov. 16 at Holy Child Center in Rosemont, Pa. She was 102.

She was the librarian at Our Lady of Lourdes School in Manhattan, 1979-1989. She taught at SS. Peter and Paul, Mount Vernon, 1971-1977, and St. Elizabeth’s, Manhattan, 1968-1971.

She also taught and served as principal at schools in the Philadelphia area, Chicago and in Massachusetts.

Born, in Morton, Pa., she entered the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus in 1930 and professed her final vows in 1938. She was formerly known as Mother Mary Henry.

She earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Villanova University.

A Funeral Mass was offered Nov. 20 in the New Sharon Chapel, Rosemont, Pa. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken, Pa.
