Sister Mary Lucy Aragonese, A.S.C.J.

Sister Mary Lucy Aragonese, A.S.C.J., who taught for more than 70 years, including at elementary schools in the archdiocese, died March 10 at Sacred Heart Manor in Hamden, Conn. She was 97.

She taught at Our Lady of Pompeii School, Greenwich Village, 1939-1940, 1964-1965 and 1968-1974; St. Joseph’s in lower Manhattan, 1965-1968, 1981-1984 and 1988-1991; and Santa Maria in the Bronx, 1975-1981. She also taught in Connecticut, Illinois and Missouri and served in parish ministry in Connecticut and Missouri.

Born in Dayton, Pa., she entered the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1930 and professed final vows in 1937.

A sister, Nancy, survives her. A Funeral Mass was offered March 12 at Sacred Heart Manor Chapel in Hamden, Conn. Burial was at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven, Conn.
