Sister Mary Peter Henzi, F.S.P.

Sister Mary Peter Henzi, F.S.P., who was a teacher and principal in the archdiocese, died Aug. 29 at St. Cabrini Home in Dobbs Ferry. She was 93.

She was principal of St. Teresa’s School in Tarrytown, 1967-1973; Sacred Heart in Highland Falls, 1962-1967; and St. Patrick’s in Verplanck, 1956-1962. She was the superior of the community at St. Teresa’s and St. Patrick’s.

She also taught at St. Patrick’s, 1946-1951, and at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Manhattan, 1951-1956. She was a group mother at St. Joseph’s Home in Peekskill, 1940-1942. She also taught in West New York, N.J., and Philadelphia.

Born in Union City, N.J., she entered the Franciscan Sisters in 1938 and professed final vows in 1945.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 2 at Marian Woods Chapel. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Yonkers.
