Sister Mary Robert Ashley, S.A., who was assistant house superior at St. Francis Convent at Graymoor for five years, died July 20 at the convent in Garrison, where she resided. She was 90.
She was assistant house superior from 1985 until 1990. Previously she served in St. Cecilia’s Mission, Manhattan, and in Brooklyn.
She also served in parishes and retreat ministries in Washington, D.C., and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Born in Potsdam, she entered the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement in Garrison in 1945 and professed final vows in 1952.
A Funeral Mass was offered July 25 in the motherhouse chapel at Graymoor. Burial was in the sisters’ cemetery there.
