Sister Mary Tyler, O.P.

Sister Mary Tyler, O.P., who was a teacher and principal at Corpus Christi School, Manhattan, died Oct. 16 at Vitas Hospice in Milwaukee, Wis. She was 64. She served in four assignments at Corpus Christi, as administrator, 2000-2004; as principal, 1988-1992; and as a teacher, 1983-1988 and 1973-1981. Born in Chicago, she entered the Sinsinawa Dominicans in 1964 and professed final vows in 1969. Besides her service as a teacher, principal and school administrator, she did pastoral ministry and social service work in Wisconsin, Illinois and Florida. She is survived by three sisters, Kathleen Eccles, Maureen Tyler and Barbara Tyler, and two brothers, James Tyler and Michael Tyler. A Funeral Mass was offered Oct. 21 at Queen of the Rosary Chapel, Sinsinawa, Wis., with burial in the motherhouse cemetery there. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, 529 W. 121st St., Manhattan, on Monday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m.
