Sister Maura Sheerin, S.A., who served in catechetical and pastoral ministry, died Oct. 5 at Graymoor in Garrison. She was 81.
She served in Schenectady, Dannemora, Canajoharie, Scotia and Cobleskill. She also served in New Jersey, New Hampshire, and California and in British Columbia, Canada.
Born in County Leitrim, Ireland, she entered the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement at Graymoor in 1947 and made final vows in 1955.
A sister, Eilish McCabe, survives her. A Funeral Mass was offered Oct. 8 in the motherhouse chapel at St. Francis Convent, Graymoor. Burial was to be in Ireland.
