Sister Monica Ste-Marie, O.S.U., who taught at four schools in the Bronx, died March 8 at Andrus-on-Hudson in Hastings-on-Hudson. She was 102.

In the Bronx, she taught at St. Angela Merici, 1957-1961 and 1942-1947; St. Jerome, 1950-1957; Our Lady of Mercy, 1938-1939; and St. Philip Neri, 1939-1940. She also taught at St. Joseph in Middletown, 1947-1949.

Sister Monica served in prison ministry at a women’s prison in Delaware, 1982-1983, and at Downstate Correctional Facility, Beacon, 1980-1982. She served at a school and parish in Malone, 1989-2002; the Marian Residence in New Rochelle, 1988-1989; and a retreat center in Beacon, 1978-1982.

Born in Malone, she entered the Ursuline Sisters in 1934 and made final vows in 1940. She marked her 80th anniversary of religious life in 2017.

She earned a master’s in religious studies from Providence College in Rhode Island.

A Funeral Mass was offered March 11 at the Ursuline Provincialate Chapel in New Rochelle. Burial was private.
