Sister Nancy Lynn McNamara, R.S.H.M.

Sister Nancy Lynn McNamara, R.S.H.M., who taught in both Catholic and public schools in the New York area, died Sept. 5 at Marymount Convent in Tarrytown. She was 76.

She taught at Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Manhattan, Mother Butler Memorial High School in the Bronx and St. Mary’s School in Long Island City. She also taught at three public schools in the Bronx. After retiring from the public school system she volunteered and was a substitute teacher at both parochial and public schools in the Bronx and Brooklyn.

She entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1949 and professed final vows in 1957.

A Funeral Mass was offered Sept. 10 in the Butler Memorial Chapel at Marymount, Tarrytown. Burial followed at Mount Calvary Cemetery in White Plains.
