Sister Nancy Malone, O.S.U.

Sister Nancy Malone, O.S.U., a longtime educator and author who taught at the College of New Rochelle and the Ursuline School in New Rochelle, died March 25 at Andrus-on-Hudson in Hastings-on-Hudson. She was 87.

Sister Nancy taught at the Ursuline School, 1984-1987, and served as director of curriculum for the College of New Rochelle, 1981-1982, where she taught, 1965-1973. She taught at an Ursuline high school in Bethesda, Md., 1958-1960.

She also was project manager and editor of The Church Society for College Work in Cambridge, Mass., and regional director of the National Institute of Campus Ministries. Her books included “Seeds of Grace” and “Walking the Literary Labyrinth: A Spirituality of Reading.”

Born in Bridgeport, Conn., she entered the Order of St. Ursula in 1953 and made final vows in 1959. She held a bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle, a master’s in theology from Harvard Divinity School, and a master’s in classics from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She was formerly known as Mother Mary Augusta.

A Funeral Mass was offered March 28 at Ursuline Province Center Chapel in New Rochelle. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
