Sister Patricia Humphrey, S.C., who taught at several elementary schools in the archdiocese, died March 1 at the Convent of Mary the Queen in Yonkers. She was 80.

She taught at St. John the Evangelist School in White Plains from 1970 until 1994. She taught in Manhattan at Holy Name of Jesus, 1966-1970; Our Lady of Good Counsel, 1960-1966; and Immaculate Conception, 1954-1960; and in the Bronx at St. Raymond’s, 1952-1954.

Born in New York City, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1950 and professed final vows in 1958. She was formerly known as Sister Michael Mercedes.

She held a bachelor’s degree from the College of Mount St. Vincent and a master’s from State University College of Arts.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Rosenthal. A Funeral Mass was offered March 5 at Mary the Queen Convent, with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
