Sister Patricia Marie Hafey, M.M.

Sister Patricia Marie Hafey, M.M., who served in Tanzania for 17 years and also taught at two schools in the archdiocese, died May 6 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining. She was 90.
Sister Patricia was in Tanzania, 1981-1984 and 1963-1977. She worked at Maryknoll, 1989-1997, 1984-1987 and 1977-1981; and taught at Transfiguration School, Manhattan, 1954-1955, and St. Anthony’s, the Bronx, 1954.
She also served in Hawaii, California and Washington, D.C.
Born in Queens, she entered the Maryknoll Novitiate in 1951 and professed final vows in 1960.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent, Station N.J.
Her brothers, Brian and Robert, and her sisters, Virginia and Catherine, survive her.
Burial was in the cemetery at the Maryknoll Sisters Center. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at a later date.
