Sister Nancy O’Brien, R.S.H.M.

Sister Nancy O’Brien, R.S.H.M., who served in the business and grounds office at Marymount College in Tarrytown, died Oct. 11. She was 99.

She retired to Marymount Convent in Tarrytown in 2009.

Sister Nancy served at the college, 1978-1980. She served at Sacred Heart of Mary School, the Bronx, 1974-1978, and the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Manhattan, 1968-1974. She began her long ministry to retreatants, school faculty and staff members, students and her fellow sisters at Cormaria Retreat House in Sag Harbor, 1940-1966.

She also served in various capacities in London and Paris as well as Richmond, Va., 1981-2001 For some years in the 1990s she worked in the business office of Marymount Convent.

Born in Tipperary, Ireland, she entered the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary in 1938 and made final vows in 1945. She was previously known as Sister Eucharia.

A Funeral Mass was offered Oct. 14 at Marymount Convent. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery in White Plains.
