Sister Patricia O’Brien, I.H.M., who taught at Holy Trinity Elementary School in Poughkeepsie for six years, died Oct. 14 at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton, Pa. She was 91.
Sister Patricia taught at Holy Trinity, 1953-1959. She also served in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Born in Baltimore, she entered the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1947 and professed final vows in 1953.
She received a bachelor’s degree in English/social studies and a master’s in counselor education, both from Marywood College, Scranton. She also earned a master’s in social work from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated in the IHM Center, Scranton. Burial was in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, Pa.
