Sister Regina Miriam McWilliams, F.S.P.

Sister Regina Miriam McWilliams, F.S.P., who taught at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School in Manhattan and other schools in the archdiocese, died April 1 at Cabrini of Westchester in Dobbs Ferry. She was 92.

Sister Regina Miriam served at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, 1969-1972 and 1957-1959. She taught at Guardian, Peekskill, 1960-1961; St. Veronica’s, Manhattan, 1959-1960; and St. Patrick, Verplanck, 1955-1956. She was a group mother and teacher at St. Joseph’s Home, Peekskill, 1953-1955.

She served as a principal of St. Joseph’s School in Bogota, N.J., for 27 years.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Peace in 1947 and professed final vows in 1954.

A graduate of Cathedral High School in Manhattan, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Ladycliff College, Highland Falls, and a master’s from Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.

Funeral services were private due to the coronavirus crisis. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Yonkers.
